Still, glad that Ben owned up to this one being on his shoulders. With all that’s gone on this year, Pittsburgh is still 4-4 and playoffs are still in the realm… this one was a tough loss, but we’re not dead yet…

If you ask him he would probably say he was in receiver hell. Ha Ha. Speaking of God. God bless Levon Bell. Bell sets a standard that no current NFL RB can meet.
Penalty’s/Ref’s; Foster had his name called on a key holding penalty that took away a first down at the 8 yard line for the Steelers and we settled for 3 on that drive. 2 BIG 15 yarders! One ticky tacky one against Mitchell and one taking your helmet off…..sigh. A CLEAR first down that needed a red flag intervention to get overturned even though the Ref was right on top the play. After a “ref huddle a “no restriction” on the PI call in the end zone. Really? Never heard of that one before and he seen less get called. OK I am done whining about uncontrollable events.
One man to beat; If Bernard does not tackle Blake on his INT return he takes it about 103 yards to the house.
Wonder how Ben’s knee is holding up? If he can move next week like he did this week then look for a big game from him and the receivers(30+ points) Go ahead call me a homer I don’t mind.
It’s a fine line between winning and losing and yes the standard is the standard in all phases of the game. This 4-4 team is still pretty damn good and still ascending. Elpalito mentioned 10-6 will most likely get them in and I agree. Make it or not I will definitely enjoy the ride.

I think MOST of Ben’s rough outing could be put down to trying to do too much too soon, but in which sense? Was he healed enough to come back? Probably not, but I’m guessing guys are almost never “healed enough to come back.” Was he trying to force things that weren’t there as he got increasingly banged up and nervous? Probably. I’m guessing it had a lot to do with Bell going down and figuring it was all on him.

Does anyone know what illness he had?

Ben had a rough outing. I wonder how much was Ben trying to do too much too soon.

Let’s hope Ben can shake off the rust before the Raiders cone to town. As much as I hate to say it this early, the raiders game is shaping up as a must win for the playoffs.

I was prepared for the Steelers to lose this game due to a belief that the Bengals are legit and Big Ben would be rusty. The loss of Bell was devastating because it took away BR’s new favorite comfort blankie. The chemistry between Ben and the WRs was clearly affected by his absence, understandably so. Heath’s stat line is enough proof of that. Big Ben returned to his original safety comfort blankie.

The team is 4-4. A 6-2 second half is still playoff worthy, imo. Though the Raiders are showing they are going to be a player in that race too.

Still… the season feels snakebit. I’m almost wondering if it is worth letting Big Ben sit until he’s fully healed. A gimpy Ben isn’t a useful Ben.
