I just saw boneheads video of the apology. According to his definition its only a concussion if you sit out the next game but if you play then you were just faking it. Looked like he was getting ready to go on a picnic. Nice ride by the way, looks like he went shopping for it at a military contractors surplus sale. Have fun on your picnic pacman and thanks for the memories.

We still have a very good O line so the ability to establish a running game is not out of the question. Our defense has proven it can generate multiple turnovers in a game and also limit teams to field goals in the red zone. Manage the game on offense, win the turnover battle, and limit them to mostly FG’s. Play a solid three phases and keep the game close. Obviously Manning is not a threat to throw deep and he is not very mobile either. Can Shazier have back to back epic games? A couple good bounces and favorable calls for the black and gold please. I remember a game played Jan 15 2006 against a Payton Manning who was in his prime. Maybe the good guys dusted off that old film and took a peek at it. I know it has been said Ad nauseam but his is one game and anything can happen.

Saw yesterday where Jason Whitlock complaining that the Steelers coaching staff was out of control; Munchak, Porter, and Tomlin tripping kick returners, and why are we giving grief to Marvin Lewis when Tomlin needs to be reigned in. Lewis needs to be fired when it clearly team policy to hire these kinds of players with character issues.

And then there is the deep sense of outrage over the barbarism on display between the Steelers and Bengals. Except that it is likely that a number of different actors got exactly what they were looking for. The networks and the league made it their marque, prime time game not solely for the competitive aspects, but for what they were hoping to manifest because of the bad blood. Great ratings. And the American public was so disgusted with what they were witnessing that no one turned the game off. The sports media complex is doing backflips; plenty of controversy, lots of clicks. And things have gotten good and ugly among various fan bases, but especially in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, thanks especially to wonders of selective perception.

Good times.

And that AB’s injury is a good thing if it removes Big Ben’s ‘tunnel vision’ for AB.
I don’t know why I still read the commentary at BTSC. There’s so much…stupid…going on at times. sigh

I am really psyched up.

When the Steelers offense was prepared to begin the game winning drive in Super Bowl 43, Max Starks said, “We are built for this.”

Looking at the pattern of the 2015 season, the Steelers have been built for this.

This is not to say that they are going to win the game. You could only say they almost certainly will not going in, but that just means the pressure is off and we can enjoy ourselves. The point is that there is a tremendous opportunity here. Next man up has worked with the loss of Ben, Bell, Pouncey, Beachum. Can it now work with Brown. Can the receivers corps minus its leader get it done with Bryant, Wheaton, Heyward-Bey and Sammie Coates being this week’s TNT? Can defense and special teams step up and do their part? Can Landry Jones and Michael Vick, if called upon, do just enough?

Maybe not. Probably not. But the encouraging thing is that given what this team has had to do week in and week out during this season this is really almost a day-at-the-office type of challenge. If they lose, disappointing, but hardly discouraging. Without Brown, Bell, DeAngelo Williams, etc, and Ben essentially crippled, what would you realistically expect? Just bad luck,

But what if they win? You think no one wants to play Pittsburgh now? No one will want to play this team for the next three years, regardless how the AFCCG turns out. This group will start to actually believe they can walk on water, every single player on the roster will be totally bought in. This will be a team no one will want to play, especially when some of their All Pros come back.

So we get to root for the improbable. We snatch the sympathy sentiments that are being directed at this being Peyton Manning’s last rodeo. If we can win and do so without incurring additional big losses then we can watch the Chiefs/Patriots survivor sole their undergarments as they have to prepare for the Team of Destiny with mad playoff pedigree (so there can be no hope that the moment is too big for them) that’s coming to get and who believes they’re bulletproof.

Waiting for that apology Pac Man.

And btw. I think the City of Denver and Broncos fans should really consider doing something nice for Burfict. A fruit basket or something. You owe him so much.

Agreed, but it would sure be nice if we don’t have to…

A mixed blessing at best.

I expect the Broncos to, if not load the box, to give more attention to the running game and short passing game than the Bengals had. Ben will be forced to throw and I don’t expect him to take too many hits before he will have to come out. If I were the Broncos, my game plan would be to knock Ben out of the game as early as possible. I suspect he will throw at least one brutal interception before he admits that his shoulder is too messed up to play any more.

TnT will not have the benefit of playing a defence that is targeting the pass. I would expect their numbers to fall dramatically. With Ben out (in my scenario), the game rests on Landry Jones’ shoulders. I will be cheering for him but I don’t think his shoulders, even with a full week of first team reps, will be ready for this burden.

I am expecting a gutsy but tragic Steelers loss (tragic because they were so close) and I hope the Steelers are able to get a decent QB in the draft to groom as a long term back-up. I also think they need another vet backup to replace Gradkowski but we can get into these discussions next week.
