#Here We Go, Steelers—Some Encouraging Links for a Very Long Sunday

It started with just a little tweet from the Steelers’ twitter feed:

It has been growing like wildfire. A Who’s Who of Steeler Nation notables, from Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, some of the cast of Nashville ABC, Hines Ward and Jerome Bettis, Snoop Dogg, you name it, all have posted pics of themselves holding the Here We Go sign. It’s very cool—check it out on Steelers.com.

If Renegade is more your style, Benstonium put out a fantastic new version for the playoffs a few weeks ago:

But even more interesting, in a way, is the following version, produced at the beginning of the season by someone else altogether. He decided to approach it more from the offensive side, since the expectation going into the season was it would be the offense which would carry the team.

Within the first 30 seconds the majority of the players we see are on IR or not playing this weekend—Kelvin Beachum, Maurkice Pouncey, Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, just to name the obvious ones. It brings it home just how amazing it is we find ourselves at this point. It does also feature some defensive plays I hope we’ll see today—an Antwon Blake strip, a William Gay pick-six, etc. It’s well done and worth a watch:

How can I leave our old pal Dave Dameshek off of this list? Here is this week’s “Football Baby” picks, and I think you’ll like the cut of his jib.

Pittsburgh Dad has some thoughts on the Steelers/Bengals game:

The Steelers have produced a video to get you ready.

I shared this before the December game, but if you missed it, here is St. Myron of Cope singing his hit tune:

And finally, not in the class of the others, but still heartfelt, my group, back in our blue taffeta days, singing a Steelers ballad:

That’s all I’ve got. I have to get back to calculating the precise angle at which Ston the Invincible should be facing the computer.

Which reminds me, last week’s nailbiter was totally my fault. I forgot to tell the catsitter to tell Cato (my emergency back-up cat and game-watching buddy) the game was on Saturday. It’s a miracle they pulled it out without Cato’s assistance. You can bet he’ll be in the approved viewing spot later today…

  • Aww. Tried to go join Ivan and Homer but the place is closed. Hopefully next week, then.

13 minutes till game time. I predict the winning team will be the one who turns the ball over the least though how the officials call pass interference will be pretty big as well. If Ben can stay upright and doesn’t try to force the ball, I think we win. Too many hits or forcing the ball (trying to win the game by himself) and I think we lose.

    Here we goes Steelers!

    • Pretty astute, COSF. The one turnover was big.

Thanks. Most people don’t remember the tute part when they talk about me.

To be honest, I expected lot of turnovers in this game but both teams surprised me. It was a gutty performance on the part of both teams.
