I’m sure one of us at least will be writing more about this in the coming months.

I’m shocked at how Randle El is doing physically and, possibly, mentally. Its too easy for fans to say ‘yeah, but they made all that money’. A life of pain makes the zeroes in the bank account seem rather inconsequential.
I hope someone here at going deep does a recap of it. I’d love to hear some perspective from the esteemed writership.

And any of the people with access to that locker room who have commented have said this is the tightest, closest locker room they have ever seen in years of covering the team. Makes me hope that the personnel changes are as minimal as possible. Maybe our shutdown corner is working to come off IR now. Obviously you’re going to add a bunch of youngsters, and hopefully some DBs in the process, but I think it may be more than ordinarily important to preserve as much of the core of the team as possible. After all, you aren’t haven’t to debate whether to keep guys that may all too soon be over the hill – the bulk of the team is young.

And from all accounts Fitz carried himself well when he had the official media time…

These guys played with so much heart, even though they had the worst hand dealt to them. From the supposed “toughest schedule in the league” to injuries, etc.

As the late, great Coach Noll once said: “I can’t tell you how much you gain, how much progress you can make, by working together as a team, by helping one another. You get much more done that way…” How true that statement rings true this season.

Everything you read about Fitz says he’s hard-working, well-liked and self-motivating. The staff and his teammates have already started boosting his spirits. He’ll be fine.

My heart still goes out to that young man.

I thought it would take years to find players like that and a coach like that, but we are way closer than I thought we would be this year. Drafting Shazier was an especially good move-he’s a player like Polamalu who can take over a game. Harrison is playing like, well, Harrison. I hope he plays one more year. Like everyone else, I can see the Steelers drafting cornerbacks and safeties this year (and a “Big Ben in training”), but past that we can draft the best players available and wait for the other guys to develop.

One final thought that I had: have they ever considered moving Antwon Blake to safety? I see why they like him for his run support and general attitude, I just hate to see him covering some of the top tier wide receivers in the league. It probably doesn’t matter, because he may not be on the team next year anyway.

NMU’s – Cody Wallace, AV, D-Will, TNT Boys, DHB, Sammie Coates, Wizard of Boz, Ross Cockrell, Robert Golden and Brandon Boykin deserve our special thanks. The grizzled vets BB, Heath, Law Dog, “Big Play” Will Gay and Deebo still produced at a high level. Young Guns – David Decastro, Marcus Gilbert, Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Ryan Shazier and Mike Mitchell took the torch and will lead this team to the “Stairway to Seven” in the next few years. Our future looks bright as MT and KC have almost completed the change over of the team. Haley and Butler have solidified the coordinator positions. Let’s add some talented DB’s to next year’s team along with a QB that we could groom for the future and take over for BB, if needed.
