Well, almost the ending it wanted. Manning didn’t retire on the stage like we all thought we would. I think that the NFL would have loved for that to happen. Instead, he’ll draw it out for a few weeks until he can have a big press conference to himself about it. Not saying he doesn’t deserve the attention after the career he’s had, but the whole world thought him onstage with the Lombardi in his hand would have been the best way to retire.

Homer is has spent the last three days on the gulf course in Palm Desert – and had a solid if unspectacular round this morning. He is watching the first half in his hotel room, and will head over to the Japanese steak house for the sunset special of Steak and Shrimp.

They say this is the ultimate football game, but if that’ so, why are they having another one next year?

I am a fan of Herbes de Provence and I use a similar method of preparing both potatoes and butternut squash (I think I will try growing it next summer).

For this Supper Bowl Sunday we will be serving Gondola Pizza (a local brand that is a bit oily but my kid likes it) and hamburger, corn and rice cassarole with potatoes replacing the rice (my niece wants to try something different). There will also be a birthday pie and giant chocolate chip cookie (my kid prefers it to a birthday cake). If you haven’t guessed, we will be celebrating two birthdays. The SB will not be on TV (If it was the Steelers then it would most definitely be on).
