A Monday Cheerer-Upper: Father’s Day, Steelers Style

Yesterday while checking out Twitter, which I do relatively seldom, I came across a couple of great tweets from Steeler dads, and decided to make a compendium to start the week out right. Enjoy!

Let’s start with one of the guys I would most like to hang out with, family style. His “Dad Do” ads for Pantene were classics, and you should definitely check them out if you haven’t seen them. I loved yesterday’s tweet:

This one, from a few days before, is also pretty wonderful:

Note that the scoreboard is marked “Steelers/Browns” and that the score is 1,000,000 for the Steelers and 0 for the Browns. If I were Hue Jackson I would be pretty worried, as in fact the Steelers play the Browns in Week 17 this year, and if that is actually the score (or the football equivalent—perhaps 52-3 or something similar) Jackson may find himself back on the market the next day, assuming the pattern holds true.

Arthur Moats is a guy whose heart seems almost too big for his DE body, and that’s saying something. Here is a tweet to melt the heart of any mom:

Just a few minutes ago I discovered the tweet his wife put up in reply:

Check out his twitter account if you haven’t already—the picture of his kids which heads the page is fabulous.

Ben Roethlisberger spent his Father’s Day throwing something like 400 passes at his Pro Camp, but his webmaster found time to post this tweet:

If you go to the Twitter page there are wonderful pictures of him and his family.

Where Ben is, AB can’t be far behind. And given his very public pride in his kids and his determination to be a great father, it’s no surprise that Brown’s twitter page was full of Father’s Day tweets. Here’s my two favorites:

And this:

Another great family man, Cameron Heyward honored his father:

To enjoy this one you have to follow the link to Instagram, where you can see our tireless Iron Man knocked flat by his seven-month old son, as well as a couple of pictures of him with his own father:

And if you want to see James Harrison with his father when he was just knee-high to a grasshopper, check out his tweet:

It’s pretty hard to top a photo of a youthful James Harrison, so I’ll just leave it here. I hope all of you had a wonderful and blessed Father’s Day as well—unless you’re not a father. Then I hope you blessed your own dad if possible. Thanks to the Steeler dads for being such great role models for their children and their community, and special thanks to Coach Tomlin, who I fear isn’t much of a tweeter, for his part in modeling fatherhood for his players and his work in organizations which support this.

  • On D Wills it’s at the Browns so who knows, they may toss in a 60 from time to time.
Funny thing about AB’s pick. It looks like he’s barely got his baby, though my guess is it’s in good hands.
    Really nice post.
