I went to a game there once, in 2012, I think it was. It wasn’t quite as bad as I expected, but I would have been afraid to leave had the Steelers won and had I not been with my very large and very fit son-in-law…

I never went to a game at M&T Stadium until yesterday. I took one of my fellows (she’s a former Baltimore Colts fan, who hates the Ravens and loves the Steelers) to the game for her birthday. We tailgated with a friend of mine from college, and walked over to the stadium with a group of guys. Nobody really bothered us when we were with them. When it was just two of us, it was a little different. One guy threatened to spit on us before we ever got to the stadium (luckily, he didn’t!). A guy in our row yelled in our faces every time he went in or out of the row, and the guys behind us were obnoxious. Overall, about what I had expected, but it got tiresome, especially since the Steelers stunk up the joint. After awhile, I was just laughing, because they would have loved my tears too much. I apologized for cursing more than once, and annoyingly swung my towel any time we did anything remotely well. (There was limited towel swinging).

The worst part was a father-daughter pair sitting in front of us. He had a Suggs jersey, she had AB. Due to the loss, she had to wear the Suggs jersey out of the stadium. It was a very sad moment.

In spite if it all, I’m glad I went and showed my support. There weren’t many of us, and I kind of wish my team had showed up. Anyway, it was a beautiful sunny day. We had fun and made a few new friends.

This was my second game at an opponent’s stadium, and the second loss. Thinking maybe I should stick to Heinz. It seems highly unlikely that a trip to Houston is in my future.
