Thank you for sharing such thoughtful reflection on your birthday:) It’s funny how sometimes simple tasks can really be so meaningful and It sure made me think. God never wastes anything. Life is tough for some, and really tough for others. Justice and grace, hope and love. The tests and trials of everyday life both big and small just keep coming at us. These are things we all must face no matter who we are. Everyone has at least one gift or unique talent given to them. Martavis Bryant has his gift(s). An unopened gift is worthless. Martavis opened his football gift but it is setting unused in the corner now and only available on U Tube:/ I hope he realizes just how special his football gift is and the fact that he can use it to help others. Happy Birthday Rebecca! You have certainly been a gift to those of us fortunate enough to know you.

As for Martavis. Saw a YouTube video yesterday of a listing of the top plays from last season. Four of those plays, including number one, his amazing touchdown in the Wild Card game against the Bengals, featured him. The most of any individual player. Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown had, I believe, four altogether. Even without the injuries to Wheaton, Hey-Bey and Coates, his loss was a lot more significant than we want to acknowledge. He brings at least as much pure talent to the equation as the Triplets (Ben, Bell and Brown), and probably a bigger upside at this point than any of them. Not having him has hurt us, the game and the league, particularly with the relative triviality of the offense. He would have been better off professionally trying to end the career of one of his fellow competitors or beating up a woman or a child.

I too think of Martavis a lot. Honestly, I thought with Wheaton, DHB and Coates the Steelers had more than enough WR depth to weather his loss. Well, we know how that has worked out.

Regarding the ratings hit, Ivan touched on many salient points in his series.

I’m honestly not sure that the off the field issues (domestic violence, etc…) have created that much of an impact, simply because they’re nothing new.

I do suspect that concern about CTE is having an impact. But there’s no way to be sure.
