Better Late Than Never

Chicago Bears v Pittsburgh SteelersAs everyone knows by now, the Divisional Round game between the Steelers and the Chiefs has been moved to Sunday evening.  Personally, I don’t see that the NFL should take the chance of icy roads for game-goers. There is a much better solution staring everyone  right in the face-move the game to Heinz Field. The forecast calls for partly cloudy and 38 degrees-perfect football weather.

Unfortunately the NFL is, as usual, completely obdurate, and so I don’t expect my suggestion to get any playing time in Roger Goodell’s luxury suite in New York. As usual.

Of course, we can always hope that continuing vile weather will discourage 65,000 or so of the Chiefs faithful from making the trek to Arrowhead Stadium.  That would be a good start, and would reduce the noise factor considerably. Although it might be rather creepy to play a game in a silent stadium.

But according to Ben Roethlisberger, it won’t matter either way because they have been practicing their silent count. I hope they’ve also been practicing their telepathic skills. You know, the ones we saw at Training Camp between him and Antonio Brown. They haven’t been quite as evident lately.

Another thing we can hope is that Justin Houston really wasn’t quite ready to return. Ben Roethlisberger encouraged him this week to have a quiet day with his family. I’m sure Houston appreciated the thought…

And as long as we are thinking of stuff that woukd make tomorrow’s game perhaps not so difficult to sit through, how about if Tyreek Hill suddenly gets offered tickets to “Hamilton? ” After all, it’s completely sold out through the end of January, and one shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Tyreek, I’m telling you, if you get the offer take the tickets!

And by the way, does anybody have a pair of “Hamilton” tickets for Sunday that they aren’t using? Just thought I would check.

I’m sure there are plenty of other things which could happen between now and tomorrow evening to make the game a more comfortable thing to  watch.  Please feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments. But if not, check back on Monday morning. Rain, shine, or sleet, we’ll be here with game coverage.

In the meantime, I’m a bit too verklempt to write a post for tomorrow. As Linda Richman might say, the Terrible Towel is neither terrible nor a towel. Discuss…

  • Buddy of mine in KC tells me the storm is a bust…

Even if it wasn’t, I can’t subscribe to moving the game to Pittsburgh. Chiefs earned home field advantage. Don’t care what the weather is doing.

  • My friend Craig, who writes for some the Kansas City blogs offered this potential benefit: Fear by KC fans could result in tickets ending up on the secondary market and you know what that means for Steelers Nation.
