I hadn’t thought about the hypocrisy section prior to reading it, but it is a “yuuuuge” argument.

Ok, on to football. I am currently doing a survival league on yahoo. This is where you pick a team to win their game one week, and if they win you move onto the next week to pick another team. The twist is that once you pick a team to win, you cannot pick them again. After week 1, the options became SLIM for a lock for the win. Right now there are 0 teams that are showing they are the elite of the field. On the flip side, there are also 0 teams that are showing they are the card-pits (carpets) for everyone to walk over. It seems like all of the teams with winning records are lucky to be having winning records, and unlucky for the teams with losing records. Definitely makes for an interesting season.

Hopefully this week the offense FINALLY gets it together and puts in a good performance. Also, hopefully the London Ravens come out to play for another week. 😛

When I attend sporting events in person, I do indeed make sure that I am there and at my seat prior to the anthem. Maybe I am the strange one.

And on a side note, the one light moment in Tomlin’s press conference Tuesday was when, after being pelted with questions about the anthem business for 15 minutes, someone asked about the dismal 3rd down conversion rate. Tomlin yelled “YESSSS!!! AN ACTUAL FOOTBALL QUESTION! THANK YOU FOR THAT!” I’ll bet that’s the first time he’s ever been pleased about a question about poor 3rd down conversion rates…

Alejandro Villanueva said that it was Coach Munchak who put this all into perspective for him—that there are (at least) two completely separate issues involved, and that one of them is NOT disrespect for the flag, the troops, or veterans, despite the attempt to make it about that. Perhaps we should start the process of canonizing Munchak : )

I would completely agree with this, Ivan, if you took out the word “unintended.”

It’s all about dividing and conquering, and Trump is – in fact – goading the opposition. It seems calculated. He wants the fight. And I agree with George and Ann that it’s scary where this can lead.

BTW, Trump’s guy Luther Strange lost in Alabama tonight, and the latest attempt to kill Obamacare just got pulled from the Senate calendar. Two yuuuge setbacks. And yet all people are talking about is the NFL and the national anthem. Can’t say we didn’t call that one.

Cowher said it takes 5 games for a team to find its identity. The league may still be searching. Another great coach said in the league there’s always 4 great teams, always 4 really bad teams, and the rest battle for mediocrity. Let’s hope the Steelers are not the latter.

This is so true, and scary as to where it can lead. Not just with this incidence by the President but what might happen in the future for this seems to be the modus operandi of this president.
