I wonder if John Harbaugh and Tomlin had an agreement… But the Ravens apparently took a knee before the anthem began, which is an interesting choice which wasn’t shown. But now that I’ve gotten all of this out of the way, let’s talk about ACTUAL FOOTBALL, shall we? I will make my usual Acceptable, Objectionable, and Appalling verdicts, but first some general comments based on the questions I asked in my preview of the game. […]

I’m glad your electronics were spared. I’ve wondered about the virus, too. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the Ravens have had it. Maybe we can give it to them : )

If it wasn’t the Ravens, and if the Bears hadn’t already managed it, I would call this a trap game. An opponent who is likely to play over their heads for one game against an unwary Steelers team. But it is the Ravens. If the Steelers can’t come up big in this game, or at least win ugly, then this season is on much shakier legs than anyone realized.

I have to wonder how many players were still feeling the effects of whatever virus is sweeping during last week’s game. It could also be that a couple of players were on the verge of illness but not quite there. Often, when I was ill over my lifetime, there would be a warning sign in the form of reduced cognitive function (I would make really stupid mental errors the day before the illness broke).

* At my doctor’s request, I have reduced my daily coffee consumption for 15 to 3 cups a day. The only side effect is the desire for a nap every afternoon but since I was having naps before I retired (when I didn’t know I had severe sleep apnea) this isn’t that much of a side effect.
