It was a pretty common troll doll wig, and the fashionista was disappointed he didn’t put a black stripe down the middle to make it Steeler-icious because it would have been “dead easy and def lit.” I was lost at that point but I do remember troll dolls and I think I might like one of those wigs myself. With the stripe. If only to appall the teenagers. It’s so easy to make them scream it doesn’t even seem fair.

I’m afraid my language is influenced by my young grandson. When he was five his mom and I took him to the Pittsburgh Aviary (a fabulous place BTW for anybody looking for things to do in the Burgh). We walked into the Rain Forest room and a bird about the size of a chicken strutted up to us. It had crazy curly feathers sticking up about eight inches from its head, as well as beautiful wings and such. Said grandson put his hand to his chin in a thinking posture, and then pronouced “This must be a male, because it has extravagent plumage.” A nearby grandparent of a similarly-aged child looked at David in disbelief and said “Well, then!”

As you can probably tell from my writing style, we taught our kids to never use a one-syllable word when there was a more precise (and generally longer) word available. Which I realize is rather pedantic of us. And I fear they are passing this along…
