A team is a strange beast, something entirely apart from the individuals who create it. It really does gain and lose momentum, play above and below its talent or skill level, have moods. I think if any coach truly understands this, it’s Tomlin. have no idea how this really addresses the article but it’s what I thought after reading.

One aspect of the last two seasons is lack of mental toughness. Once a game gets doubtful all three phases seem to self destruct.

It is just as much teams playing up to the Steelers sometimes. Every game against the Steelers is a “big game”, much like games against the Packers (pre Rodgers injury), the Patriots or the Cowboys.
