The D, with Fitzpatrick, has the ability to get better and better each week, so long as the injury bug doesn’t hit too hard.

But with this season’s sense of timing, this team could be terribly snake bit.

This team has been through a lot of adversity together. They saw Shazier go down and not get up, and he’s with them every step of the way. They were at camp when Coach Drake died in his room. They survived Antonio Brown and the media storm that follows behind, and were called a circus. They were cheated last year and took it with dignity. I’d say they’re a team.

I probably have a million other thoughts but these are the first ones that come to mind. It’s a long season. I’ll havee more, thanks to Ivan and the commenters here.

you are the best. this whole series has been some of the most rational, level-headed writing not only about the Steelers, but about sports in general, that i have read in a long time. particularly when it comes to the black and gold, so much of what passes for writing about the team is either slavishly following the narrative of the national media, drunk on the black and gold kook-aid, or (perhaps most frequently, i’m afraid) so full of fear and anxiety that gets hidden behind criticism that it no longer approaches the realm of sanity. this, however, has been a delight. hopeful, yet grounded in reason. written from the perspective of a fan who doesn’t sound like they hate every decision that the team makes. not blindly following the talking points of the inane sports shows. basically, this was awesome, and exactly what i needed on this football friday! thank you! here we go steelers!
